Pharmacological Action

Pharmacodynamics ceftiofur is a β -lactam class of antibacterial drugs, with broad spectrum bactericidal action, effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (including β - lactamase producing bacteria). Its antibacterial mechanism is to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell wall and lead to the death of bacteria. The sensitive bacteria are mainly pasteurella multiplex, pasteurella hemolyticus, actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, salmonella, escherichia coli, streptococcus, staphylococcus, etc. Some pseudomonas aeruginosa, enterococcus resistant. The antibacterial activity of this product is stronger than that of ampicillin, and the activity against streptococcus is stronger than fluoroquinolones.

Pharmacokinetics ceftiofur is absorbed rapidly and widely by intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, but cannot cross the blood- brain barrier. The concentration of the drug is high in the blood and tissues, and the effective blood concentration is maintained for a long time. The active metabolite desfuroylceftiofur can be produced in the body, and further metabolized into inactive products excreted from urine and feces.
